Big Bear City is an unincorporated area of the Big Bear Valley sitting at an elevation of 6,772 feet. It’s in a flat valley, surrounded by towering Jeffery Pine Trees and old growth cedar.
Occupying nearly thirty two square miles, most of the neighborhoods are block style and residential. The neighborhoods are clustered around Highway 38. The area consists of Baldwin Lake, Big Bear City East, Erwin Lake and Lake Williams. Homes in this area are small to mid-sized and have views of the forested mountains.
According to the 2010 census, Big Bear City has more than 12,000 full time residents. Most businesses are found on Big Bear Boulevard. It is home to the Valley’s Historical Museum.
Big Bear City is bordered by Big Bear Lake, Baldwin Lake and the San Bernardino National Forest. It’s common to see natural wildlife including coyotes, hawks, squirrels and owls.
Big Bear City is host to a general aviation airport, there are no commercial services.
Other Big Bear City areas include Bear Loop, Big Bear City East, Forest Springs, Gold Mountain, Maple Hill, Maple Ridge, North Shore East, Pinewood Estates, Shay Meadow, Tanglewood and Valley View.
The main areas for Big Bear City are Baldwin Lake, Erwin Lake, Lake Williams and Whispering Forest.
