The residential area known as Whispering Forest is located on the north shore of Big Bear City. It is a hilly area that backs to the San Bernardino National Forest.
This quiet, well established neighborhood is comprised of mid-range, spacious older homes, and is surrounded with tall Jeffre Pine trees and old growth Cedar. The average home price is $200,000. The north shore is known as the sunny side of the Valley.
This area is bordered by the Stanfield Marsh Sanctuary on the south, Division to the east and Gold Mountain to the west. The Stanfield Marsh sanctuary (established in 1998) is home to migrating Canadian geese, along with eagles, giant white pelicans, blue heron, hawks and ducks.
Enjoy views of the ski resorts and glimpses of San Gorgonio. Whispering Forest is adjacent to Van Dusen Canyon and miles of hiking and biking trails. Van Dusen Canyon was home to Big Bear Valley’s gold mining enterprises in the mid-1800’s. It is now a popular area for camping and outdoor adventures.
The Whispering Forest area is home to Statewide Storage and adjacent to the Big Bear Lake Convention Center. It’s central location makes Whispering Forest convenient for shopping, restaurants, golf and the ski slopes.
