Alpine Slide at Magic Mountain’ is just west of Big Bear Village. At the bottom of the historic ‘Rebel Ridge’ ski slope of bygone days, the Alpine Slide is famous for year-round play. In and out of season, they offer great family fun with miniature golf, go karts, a water slide with heated pool, and a rather unique, self-controlled bobsled ride on cement tracks. Here’s a tip: You won’t get their great view of the lake, if you don’t ride the bobsled.
In the Winter season, the slide’s best feature and most fun, is definitely the tubing hill. Facing the west and protected by a ravine, the people at Alpine Slide can blow snow earlier in the season than the ski slopes. Staying cool longer, and with up to a 30 ft. base, you can enjoy snow tubing well into the Spring.
The staff at Alpine Slide have a great rule for tubing fun: Children aged 2-6 must ride with an adult over 18; one child per paying adult at all times. The nice thing, the children slide for free! You even get a Magic Carpet ride back up to the top. The lift goes up inside a modern plexiglas tunnel, giving a smooth return to the top and relief from heavy snowfall and excess walking.
Tubes are supplied. For the fun to begin, you need to dress for winter. Wear layered clothes, boots, hats, and gloves. Snow pants are a very good idea. Once you’ve had a couple of runs, you can adjust to conditions.
Winter season 2011/2012, lasts until Easter.
Snow play is open from 10:00am – 4:00pm every day. Day sessions cost $25.00.
Night sessions are 5:00pm – 9:00pm on Fridays and Saturdays. Night sessions cost $15.00.
For the holidays through January 7, 2012, night sessions are open daily, from 5:00pm – 9:00pm, except Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
