Home Selling Advice

Many of us have crowded closets and store extra things in our garages. The problem is, potential buyers love to poke their heads into our closets and drawers. Clutter can turn off a perspective buyer or, worse yet, give them the feeling that the space is too small for their needs.

Home buyers will also inspect kitchen cupboards and drawers. Organize them so they look spacious. Eliminate chipped or mismatched dishes and old pots or pans. Small upgrades like changing the counter tops and adding a new coat of paint will give the area a new feeling. Consider removing all household clutter. Scattered toys, magazines and lots of furniture will give your home a smaller appearance. One of our clients removed their CD’s and books from the bookshelves and opened the house up considerably.

Make sure the outside of your house is in order. Trimming trees and bushes and improving your “curb appeal,” can help to make a good first impression.

You may want to visit other homes in your area. See what your competition has to offer and compare prices. If one of the properties is similarly priced, how does your home compare?

You can improve the feeling of your home on a budget, or you can become extravagant and rent furniture etc. The choice is yours. The International Association of Home Staging Professionals states that 90% of professionally staged homes sell within a month!
