Snow time in the mountains of Big Bear Lake…almost! Saturday, September 24th, Bear Mountain will open for a unique pre-season party. Forty top jib riders will compete for $15,000 in cash prizes . This eighth annual event will see Nick Visconti return as defending champ.
The contest begins at 2:00 PM and goes until dark. Arrive early and watch the staff lay down 110 tons of ice. The unique 2011 features are sponsored by Red Bull. They include a huge wall with a ledge, stairs, down rails, close out rails, and bank boxes.
Enjoy dozens of live bands set up over in Booth City. Vendor City will display the latest in technology and equipment from Volcom, Ultimate Boarder, Ski Dazzle and many more. The vendors will also have games and TONS of giveaways.
Snowboarding Magazine will be on site with a live broadcast throughout the day. There will be a weenie roast, pro-autograph signing, and a full bar at the Beach, for those over twenty one.
Admission is free to the public. A free DVD of the new movie, People’s Park, will be available. The DVD is a great collection of shredders. People’s Park will debut after the event and will be available for download on their website during the winter season.
