July 4th in Big Bear Lake

The annual Big Bear Lake Independence Day Fireworks are scheduled for the 4th of July at dusk (9:00 PM). The show, coordinated with music from the local radio station (KBHR 93.3), consistently ranks in the top 5 for California fireworks shows.

The fireworks are organized by the Big Bear Rotary Club with support from the City of Big Bear Lake, the Chamber of Commerce, the Big Bear Lake Resort Association and local business and community donations.

The spectacular show lasts 30 minutes. You can get out on the lake to view it from a boat, or choose from a variety of vantage points along the shore line.

Many people choose to attend the Rotary Club’s barbeque and watch the show lakeside, at the Marina Resort (40770 Big Bear Blvd, near the Village). The BBQ begins at 4:00 PM. Bring your chairs and clothing to keep warm. Beside pizza, steak and chicken, beer and wine are also available for purchase.

Another favorite spot for early arrivers is on Division. Cars pull up, park and set up chairs to view the show from the east end of Big Bear Lake. Other favorite spots are along the North Shore, especially by the Big Bear Solar Observatory.

For the adventurous at heart, try off-roading into the mountains and get above the crowd. We suggest entering Polique Canyon Road (unpaved) and driving several miles until you see the lake (Map Link).

Whether you choose lakeside, your porch, or on a mountain top, you can’t beat the dazzling display reflected off the water at 7,000 feet!
